西元1859年11月24日，一位名叫查爾斯·達爾文的英國自然學家，在英國發表《物種起源》一書，內容有關科學、對物種的來源有嶄新革命的看法、這本書的全名為《由物競天擇所造成的物種起源》。「達爾文論」所謂的物種，它一種經由「自然天擇」的過程逐漸演化而來的生物體。根據「自然天擇」理論，「會產生基因轉變」的生物體比「不會產生基因轉變」的生物體具有更強烈的繁殖衍生力，如此使得整個自然環境的結構會傾向容易產生基因轉變的生物體，即適者生存理論。
